Mrs. Anna Papamarkou graduated from the Higher Drama School of the Athens Conservatoire, to set on a journey of knowledge and artistic development, which is still ongoing, through theatre and visual arts, music, dance and singing.
Hailing from the island of Rhodes, she grew up around its medieval castle, in the bright sunlight of the Greek island, and in a nature so colourful, intense, and round, like a mother’s warm embrace.
Her creations are enriched by the forces of her island, her travels, philosophy, mythology, and tradition. Motherhood revealed to her the joy of interacting with the world of children, which she has been consistently serving since 1999, as a story and play writer, director, song writer, illustrator, actress and narrator. She creates and presents works with the intention of bringing light to childhood, the tenderest piece of our existence. She addresses children’s imagination in a multitude of ways, so that children can aesthetically, emotionally, mentally, and even experientially discover the power which lies in life’s positive aspects, such as gratitude, joy, love, cooperation, and solidarity.
This is her ninth children’s book, in which she participates as a writer together with Mrs. Eva Paneri, but also as an illustrator.
