He was born in Thespies of Thebes in 1963 and he has consistently been teaching the specific scientific subject at the University since 2004. His studies and articles focus on the  Modern and Contemporary History of the Greek State (from 1830 to the present) and specifically the formation of the political institutions, the foundation of the University of Athens, the developments of the student movement and the writing of biographies of important personalities that influenced Greek society. One of his most recent research interests aims to shed light on the unknown aspects of the history of the German Occupation and Greek Resistance based on the German Archives. He also examines the creation of the ideological currents in Greece and Europe during the 19th and 20th century.

His scientific work encompasses a series of studies and articles, as well as the following books:
